How can family members recognize and understand different stages of dementia, and what behavior or care changes usually happen at each stage?

I went through this with my grandfather, and for us it was gradual. Early on it was mostly memory slips and mood changes, but later we noticed confusion with daily routines and more need for supervision. What helped was learning what’s typical at each phase so we could adjust expectations and care. This page explains it clearly without being overwhelming: https://www.newcenturypa.com/dementia/stages/ dementia stages. Understanding the progression made it easier to plan support and not take behaviors personally.
