Understanding the Right Number of References in a Dissertation

From my experience, understanding how many references should a dissertation have was more confusing than I expected.. At first, I kept worrying that I either had too few sources or too many. I spent a lot of time adding references without really thinking about their value. Over time, I realized that the right number depends on your topic, word count, and academic level. What truly matters is how well the sources support your arguments and research,. Once I stopped focusing on numbers and started focusing on relevance and quality, my dissertation became stronger and more coherent.
