Are expensive electric toothbrushes worth the money?

I'm looking for a new electric toothbrush because mine has been breaking for a while now, and I didn't realize there were so many to choose from, all with mixed reviews. Last night, I started looking for a new model. Prices ranged from £30 to several hundred, with the best reviews generally saying, "Yes, it cleans my teeth as expected," while the worst ones said things like, "It doesn't show when the battery is empty," and so on.
I'm wondering if there's a significant difference in how well or poorly different models clean teeth. Are the more expensive models any better?
