Global Flow
This guide explains the Global Flow execution model, designed for customers who use a single global promo code without budgeting or reward tiering. Like the Auto Flow, this is a fully managed, no-code experience where Optimove handles the entire activation process automatically — it simply issues the same global code to every targeted customer.
This flow mirrors the classic promotions feature (global code, external reward, no budget, no caps), rebuilt on Promotions (formerly OptiPromo).
When to Use Global Flow
Choose the Global Flow when:
- Your promotion uses one global code shared by all customers (not unique per-customer codes)
- You do not need budgeting, audience caps, or reward tiers
- You want a simple, hands-off promotion experience with no engineering effort
- You're comfortable with Optimove's standard validation workflow
Because a global code has no budget cap or reward tiering, there is nothing for Promotions to cap or allocate per customer. So Promotions' conditional-execution step — validating and approving each customer — isn't needed here; Promotions only needs to track redemptions. (Conditional-execution campaigns remain available in Optimove; this simply means Promotions skips its per-customer validate-and-approve for a global code.) If your promotion needs budget caps, reward tiers, or per-customer eligibility logic, use the Auto Flow (managed) or the Advanced Control Flow (client-orchestrated) instead.
Key Benefits
- No webhook setup required - Optimove manages the integration internally
- Minimal configuration - Create target group, create campaign, execute
- Fully automated - No custom endpoints or callbacks to build
- No conditional execution to configure - Global codes without caps/tiers skip that step entirely
- Scheduled & triggered support - Works for both scheduled and realtime (triggered) campaigns
For using Global Flow => contact your CSE for webhook configs on the Optimove side.
How It Works - Your Responsibility
Step 1: Create Target Group
Work with Optimove to define your target audience. This determines which customers will be eligible for your campaign/promotion.
Step 2: Create Promotion
- Global code type (a single shared code)
- External reward
- No budget, no audience caps, no reward tiers
Alternative — create everything in one API call: Instead of building the promotion by hand, you can create the promotion and its promo code together through the API. Use oneClick for a single promotion, or oneClickBatch to create many at once — each item in the request produces a complete promotion with its global code, so everything the campaign needs is set up in a single call. See the Promotions API reference for the request format and per-item response statuses.
Step 3: Create Campaign
- Campaign type (scheduled / triggered)
- Target-group
- Channel output - setting template for optimail channeling
- No conditional execution needed on the Promotions side — a global code has nothing to validate or approve per customer, so the campaign runs straight through to redemption tracking

How It Works - Optimove Responsibility
Setting Webhooks
Optimove registers the campaign-execution webhooks on its own side, where they are handled and managed completely by Optimove:
- ET13 - for non-conditional scheduled campaigns
- Triggered webhook - for realtime (triggered) campaigns
The conditional-execution listener (ET5) is intentionally not registered for this flow — global codes without budgeting or tiering don't need it.
Behind the Scenes (Automated Process)
Once the campaign is executed, Optimove automatically orchestrates the following steps:
1. Fetch Targeted Customers
Optimove retrieves the complete list of customers from your target group.
2. Issue the Global Code
Each targeted customer runs through the same Promotions issue flow under the hood, which assigns the shared global code. With no budget, caps, or tiers there is no per-customer validate-and-approve gate — nothing needs to be allocated individually, and no approval requests are sent back to your system.
3. Deliver Email with injected Promotions values
The Data-Connection platform invokes mail sending with the promotional injected values per customer.
4. Campaign execution webhook (eventType 13/11)
This informs your system that the campaign was executed, so you can then track redemptions and fetch reward allocation from Promotions.
Fetching reward allocation
You can monitor reward / code allocations using the customer-assignment endpoint in the promocode service API.
What you'll see:
- List of customers who received the promotion
- Assignment status for each customer
- Reward details
- Additional Properties of promotion
- Campaign occurrenceId / seriesId
Call Redemption endpoint (optional)
Send an API request of reward activation to Promotions, for us to handle your reward redemption. This can be reported in the following 2 ways:
- triggered: each reward activation triggers an API request to Promotions
- scheduled: send a batch of reward activations
API Reference
Your system can use the following calls to receive notifications and track this flow.
Need budgeting, caps, or tiers? Consider the Auto Flow.
Need full control over validation and timing? Consider the Advanced Control Flow.
